As Coronavirus cases surge in Colorado, a statewide stay-at-home order was issued on Wednesday. Denver bars and restaurants will halt dine-in services until May 11 and businesses deemed “nonessential” must close until April 30.
These are stressful, uncertain times for all of us as we navigate this rapidly evolving situation caused by COVID-19. We understand the magnitude of the issues our residents face with unemployment and financial stability, and are working with building owners to provide as much assistance as possible to residents.
Along with a Cornerstone rent payment deferment program, here are a few additional resources for residents to utilize during this unprecedented time, from rent assistance to finding work.

CORNERSTONE RENT PAYMENT DEFERMENT PLAN
Your rent pays for a multitude of things, from maintenance and housekeeping to taxes, insurance, utilities and loan payments. What’s leftover goes to building owners, who also face uncertainty and financial challenges during the time. While we acknowledge some renters need assistance, paying rent is still a crucial, foundational piece of the housing ecosystem. Cornerstone building owners are keeping reserves to help out the renters in dire need during this pandemic — we are all in this together.
• Waive late fees for all residents
• Accept partial payments via RENTCafe online resident portal throughout the month
If more assistance to pay rent is needed, Cornerstone will offer a rent payment deferment plan to residents who lost their job and can verify unemployment with an application for unemployment benefits submitted through the Colo. Dep. of Labor and Employment. The rent payment deferment plan can be applied to the month of April OR May 2020.
Qualification for Rent Payment:
• Resident must provide proof of submitted claim for unemployment through the Dept. of Labor & Employment
• Email renthelp@cornerstoneapartments.com with your name, building, unit number and proof of unemployment claim. Please indicate for which month you would like to defer payment (April OR May)
• Once this information is received, the Cornerstone team will draft a rent payment deferment addendum
• This addendum must be signed by ALL leaseholders

COLORADO HOUSING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
This is an extensive list of resources available to Colorado residents who may be struggling to pay rent because of the Coronavirus.
Organizations on the list are broken down by state, state nonprofit, county and city resources. From federal to city resources, there are many options available to residents during this time.
LOOKING FOR WORK / UNEMPLOYMENT RESOURCES

You can file a wage claim to recover wages if you haven’t been paid for any hours worked. Note: due to staff working remotely due to the impacts of the Coronavirus, the best way to file a wage claim online is to send an email: cdle_labor_standards@state.co.us.

There are unemployment benefits available to residents who have lost a job due to the Coronavirus. People who are independent contractors, 1099 workers or self-employed may not be eligible to file a claim. To help with the volume of unemployment claims Colorado is receiving, The Dept. of Labor and Employment created a system to file unemployment claims.
If you need to file an unemployment claim and your last name:
-Begins with the letter A – M: file a claim on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday after 12 PM
-Begins with the letter N – Z: file a claim on Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday before 12 PM
